Do I Have to Go To Gym, Or Can Workout Programs At Home Really Work?

There are many reasons why we can consider workout programs at home these days. You can enjoy training in the privacy of your own home. You can save on traveling expenses. Big savings on your budget because you have no membership fees. Your savings can be utilized towards your own equipment, or getting high quality supplements. There are many reasons to consider a good workout program at home.

That said, I don't believe in going on a stampede with doom and gloom prophecies, especially regarding the economy of the world as it is today (we already have enough of those), yet there is a time and a place for everything: Yes, the economy definitely doesn't look too bright at the moment, so for a lot of us that is a factor when considering a new workout program.

Maybe you just have such a hectic schedule, that you just don't have the time to visit a gym. Maybe you didn't follow any exercise routine for quite a long time and you just feel intimidated by going to a gym, thinking you have to compete with everybody around you. Many people just lack the confidence, thinking everybody are going to see how overweight they are, or how unfit they are. This is especially true for beginners.

You may fall in any one of these categories, or maybe you have another reason - but the fact remains; we need to get some exercise! If you want to live a long and healthy life, you need to pay attention to your habits as far as your diet and physical activities are concerned.

So if you would prefer to follow a good workout program at home, it should not be a stumbling block. There is no reason why you cannot follow an excellent workout program at home. The biggest  problem might be yourself...

You WILL need self discipline. You will need to motivate yourself. I know many people prefer going to gym for someone else to motivate them, but there are also many people who enjoy training alone (I know, I'm one of them). Competition is good, but sometimes (especially with beginners) competition can get out of hand and lead to injuries. As far as I am concerned - for myself - I just enjoy having a good, intense workout by myself. Nobody to distract me, no cheap talk, just competing with myself. Also no waiting in queues to use equipment!

Another challenge you will have, is to get proper guidance. This is an important aspect to consider. It is always good and advisable to have professional guidance. Have someone to advise you on what to do, and how to execute different exercises (also VERY important) . If you don't know how to perform a certain exercise you might end up seeing no results, or even run the risk of injury. I have seen people ending up with permanent back problems because of doing sit ups the wrong way! But I do not say this to scare you, I say this to motivate you to get proper guidance. Then focus, and just make sure you follow the correct procedure. Take one step at a time. You will get better results by doing 3 reps of any exercise in the beginning, and then to increase gradually as you get stronger, instead of just going for the idea of doing many repetitions, and only doing harm to yourself.
